Container Distribution on LNG

Vos Logistics and Osse Overslag Centrale (OOC) have started the distribution of containers on Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) since July 2010. The harmful emissions of these vehicles are extremely low. Through this, Vos and OOC aim to cut back the emission-values of intermodal transportation even more.

Three heavy goods vehicles suitable for LNG-use have been purchased, and on the Waalkade a special gas-station has been placed for the special fuel. Several drivers have received extra training for the new form of vehicle technology and the fitting safety measures. By using these trucks there will be a reduction of 30% of carbon dioxide-use, compared to Euro 5. The emission of crill will even be reduced by 85%, compared to Euro 5!

Not only does the vehicle have a striking appearance because of its exceptionally low driver’s cabin, it also stimulates a higher safety-level for cyclists and pedestrians. This is an additional safety, health and welfare benefit because of the frequent coupling-work and mostly short rides. Another benefit is the sound reduction of the vehicle- this is 50% compared to the conventional Euro 5 diesel motor.
